Frederick Staff is a concert flutist with extensive teaching and performance experience. Frederick teaches his students the Bel Canto Technique, and is an expert at selecting and providing the proper instrument to match the flutist. Under Frederick’s expert guidance, his students excel and consistently win contests and scholarships worldwide.

Frederick’s students have gone on to win the YMF National Debut Concerto Competition, the Los Angeles Young Musicians Foundation’s Young Artist Scholarship Award, and the Disney Award. Other students have gone on to perform with the All-Southern California Orchestra, the World Youth Symphony and the All-American Orchestra. Several of his students have also go on to study at the Curtis Institute of Music and the Julliard School in New York City.

Frederick Staff attended both Northwestern University and the California Institute of the Arts with full scholarships. He has also studied with many world-class musicians including Julius Baker, James Galway, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Geoffrey Gilbert, Harry Shub, and Walfrid Kujala.

Frederick is the founder and concert master of the Song of the Angels Flute Orchestra based in Los Angeles. This provides a natural place for his more accomplished students to perform. His symphonic associations include the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, the Carmen Dragon Orchestra, the Disney Orchestra, and the Chicago Civic Orchestra.

Some of his solo performances include the L.A Young Artist’s Series, the National Flute Convention, and the New York World’s Fair, and a concert for Royalty in Brussels, Belgium. He has also performed on PBS Television and recorded for the Maranatha, Destiny, and Adoration record labels.

Frederick Staff is a passionate and caring teacher who loves to help his students find their voice. He has experience teaching players of all ages and skill levels. His students have described him as “…kind, understanding, and patient.”
