Type: Tenor Saxophone
Serial No.: 173049
This King Zephyr tenor saxophone is a beautiful instrument in great condition. The art-deco style engravings and keywork really make this horn stand out, and it has a massive sound that is unique to the Zephyr. Based on the serial number, this sax was made sometime between 1935 and 1940, which makes it a very early model of the Zephyr Series 1 and a rare find. Here’s a video of someone playing a different King Zephyr tenor sax of the same vintage.
This sax makes a massive sound and has rich, fat bottom end. There aren’t any dents or resoldered joints on this sax, and it still has about 50% of its original lacquer finish. The saxophone has been completely overhauled with high-grade pads by a top-flight Los Angeles technician, so it’s performance ready. The hardshell case it comes with isn’t original, but it’s appropriate for the instrument.
This is a tremendous professional saxophone at an unbeatable price. Contact Adam’s Music for more information about this King Zephyr Tenor Saxophone.
